There are many unique and positive things that set our fair city of Washington DC apart from other metropolitan areas. Being our nation's capital, we boast many museums and government buildings, the white house, and bunch of monuments you feel obligated to schlep your family around to when they come and visit.
One unfortunate thing we have in common with other urban meccas however is the need for many animal shelters. The greater Washington area has over 30 rescues and shelters, all filled to the brim with stray cats and dogs in need of loving homes.
Fostering a dog from a shelter or a rescue is one way to give an animal a new lease on life. Giving them a good temporary home that includes vet treatment, extra attention, walks, exercise and space can increase the chance that a dog will fully adapt to its new permanent home. This can also free up space in a shelter for a new stray to come in.
We have some awesome clients that are continuously fostering new dogs! So if you see any of these friendly faces around, say hi and make friends with some foster dogs! We also offer discounts on walks to folks who foster dogs. Talk to your walker so they can give you a price quote.
